At a meeting in early August 1926, at the home of George C. Browns, forty-five yachtsmen gathered to adopt a constitution. On Friday, August 6 at the Waquoit Social Hall, a meeting for the election of officers was held and the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club became a reality.
One hundred years later, Waquoit Bay Yacht Club still stands at the head of Waquoit. A symbol of simpler times, slower summers and days past.
Over the next few months, thanks to members of our Centennial Committee, we’ll be publishing articles and sharing stories of our Club over the past 100 years. Check back frequently and learn all that has changed, and remained the same at WBYC.
